Ex-Chelsea defender Glen Johnson believes Manchester United have been secretly grieving for Thomas Tuchel. But the current situation is satisfied with Erik ten Hag’s work.
The German was sacked by Chelsea last week following a poor start to the season, and Johnson believes the Red Devils will likely regret Tuchel.
“His attractiveness hasn’t diminished at all. He’s also anyone’s choice,” Johnson say. “I don’t need to say he’s everyone’s number one target. But he will definitely be in discussions, 18 months ago they just won the Champions League ufabet.”
When asked if United would regret Tuchel, Johnson said: “Yes, they might blame themselves a bit. Looking back, it was great, wasn’t it?”
“If they knew Tuchel would leave the team suddenly. Maybe they will wait But you can’t sit and wait like that. You have to make the best deal for yourself at that moment instead of waiting for someone to be available to work.”
“It looks like Manchester United are doing well under Erik ten Hag, so maybe they’re happy as well.”
“If they knew he could be departing so suddenly then maybe they would have waited, but you can’t just sit there and wait. You need to do the deal that’s best for you at that time rather than waiting for somebody you want to become available.
“Manchester United are seemingly doing better under Erik ten Hag so perhaps they’re just as happy anyway.”
